The Rakaposhi Base Camp Trek, also known locally as the Taghaphari Trek, is one of the more accessible but stunning treks in the Karakoram. Starting from Minapin Village in Hunza-Nagar, the trail takes you through alpine meadows, forests, glacial moraine, and past panoramic ridges. You get up close views of majestic peaks like Rakaposhi (7,788m) and Diran, with fewer technical challenges compared to higher expeditions. This trek is perfect if you want a memorable mountain experience in a shorter span with moderate effort.

Meet your guide at Islamabad International Airport for a briefing about the Rakaposhi trek. Take time to rest and recover from your journey. Overnight stay in Islamabad.
Fly to Gilgit (weather permitting) or drive along the Karakoram Highway. Continue onward to Karimabad in Hunza, surrounded by towering peaks and lush valleys.
Drive to Minapin in Nagar Valley, the starting point of your trek. Meet local porters, check trekking gear, and experience village hospitality. Overnight stay in Minapin.
Begin trekking through meadows and pine forests, enjoying fresh air and clear views. Hapakun provides a scenic campsite with sweeping landscapes of Nagar Valley.
Climb steadily towards Taghaphari, the base camp of Rakaposhi. From here, enjoy spectacular close-up views of Rakaposhi’s icy walls and the neighboring Diran Peak.
Spend the day exploring around base camp. Optional hikes to Katchelly Lake or Diran Base Camp offer even more breathtaking views of the Karakoram giants.
Retrace your steps down to Hapakun. The descent is easier and allows you to enjoy the mountain scenery and forested trails at a relaxed pace.
Finish the trek by returning to Minapin village. Drive back to Karimabad, Hunza, for a comfortable overnight stay in a traditional guesthouse or hotel.
Spend a full day discovering Hunza’s culture and heritage. Visit Baltit and Altit forts, enjoy views of Ultar, Ladyfinger, and Rakaposhi, and stroll through local bazaars.
Drive along the legendary Karakoram Highway toward Chilas. Enjoy panoramic views of Nanga Parbat and the Indus River gorge during your scenic journey.
Return to Islamabad by road or flight. Relax at your hotel and enjoy a farewell dinner with your trekking team. Overnight stay in Islamabad.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward international flight. End of services for the Rakaposhi Base Camp Trek.
